Haiku (PM only)

Haiku has been variously conceived as a simplistic literary form, a philosophical way of thinking, as being related only to the observation of common daily events or anchored in natural phenomena. On closer reading it becomes apparent that these short poems can create depth, wisdom and wit through conceptual juxtaposition and careful choice of words.

This workshop will take participants on a journey from the traditional Japanese formats to modern expressions, exploring the various terminologies, structures, word usage and motivating ideas. Examples of haiku will be analysed to assist participants in developing their skill in this fascinating and enigmatic verse form.

All venues are centrally located in Berri. Details will be in your welcome pack.
